Volunteer Options: What can I do to help!?

J.F. Cooper PTA needs YOU! Our organization is entirely volunteer-based. Please consider volunteering and helping us to meet our mission of supporting programs that serve every student, building community, and celebrating the diversity of our school.

There are SO many ways you can get involved with our school and/or PTA. Please review the options below and contact our PTA President if you have questions about any of them! You may also complete a "Volunteer Interest Form" and that will help us know what you are interested in and we can help you find the right opportunity for YOU!

PTA Committee/Volunteer Responsibilities

General Volunteer - doesn’t care where help is needed, is ready to lend a helping hand wherever it may be!
Fundraising Helper - assist in sales at school events, make phone calls to local businesses for donations, etc.
5th Grade - needs a blurb assist in planning and executing activities planned for the 5th grade
Barnes & Noble Night - assist in executing activities planned for the evening
Book Fair - help setup/tear down book display cases, assist as cashier, or help students with book selection
Book Swap - assist with the sorting of books for the evening
Box Tops - assist with counting box tops and scanning receipts into the Box Tops App
Bulletin Board & Display Cases - assist in decorating/updating according to the schedule and theme
Family Dine Out Nights - schedule events at local restaurants, take photos for the Yearbook
Family Movie Nights - help setup/cleanup, select appropriate movie
Fall Pasta / Spring Flower Fundraisers - assist with sorting and distribution of student orders
Gardening - help keep areas of the school such as the courtyard up to date and beautify as needed
Holiday Gift Shop - help setup/tear down shop, assist as cashier, help students with gift selection
Hospitality / Muffins for Moms / Donuts for Dads - help set up, serve, and clean up during events
Marquee - update outside bulletin on a monthly basis and as needed during the month
Picture Day - assist the photographer with keeping students organized during portraits
Race for Education / Jaguar Jogathon - assist in creating an action plan for major fundraiser in Fall of 2020
Room Parents / Assistants - communicate between parents and teacher for classroom needs, organize class parties/gifts
Science Fair / STEM Night - create/hang up decorations for the evening, assist with setup on STEM Night, greet students at the check-in table, take photos for Yearbook
Spirit Wear - assist in spirit wear sorting and distribution, selling spirit wear at school events
Spring Carnival - assist with planning, setup/tear down, games, prizes, donations, equipment, and/or seeking vendors
Talent Show - set up practice times with principal, recruit parents for help with backstage and behind the scenes, concessions, playlists, working with the sound crew, securing an emcee, create talent show flyer with all acts
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week - assist in planning daily events/treats for teachers, the luncheon, and mailbox treats
Valentine’s Day Family Dance - arrange a time for set up, decorate the room, secure DJ for the event, stay within budget, oversee 5th-grade concessions, plan an activity to take place of “Cake Boss”
Yearbook - take candid photos of classroom and school events/activities and upload to TreeRing following the event
